When Mary Alice first wrote Let There Be Hope, she had no intent to publish it. However, she felt God persistently pushing her to do so. He directed her to add previously-forgotten content and many scripture quotes to the document. Then He helped her throughout the challenging publication process. The result is truly the work of God, since without Him, Mary Alice could not have done it without His help and her story would be incomplete.
At the time of losing her second child, Mary Alice was not a stranger to grief. When she was 22, she lost her first husband in a tragic accident after just 11 months of marriage. However, in due time, Mary Alice met and married George. They have now been married nearly 50 years, using the tragedies of life to bring them closer and cement their relationship with the help of God.
About 40 years ago, Mary Alice and George gave birth to their daughter, Carrie Ann, who died shortly after birth. At that time, Mary Alice started writing this book, detailing her feelings and experiences. However, life got busy, and she put her writing aside. For many years, she intended to finish the book. Finally, in retirement, she had the time, and through God’s insistence and assistance, published Let There Be Hope: One Christian Mother’s Healing Journey After Infant Death.
Although each person’s pain is uniquely theirs, Mary Alice hopes that others will benefit from her journey of healing and trust in God. In Let There Be Hope she relates ways that helped her cope in a world that seemed to surround her with pain and anguish. She shares methods that helped her grieve and lessons she learned which brought her out of the depths of pain into a place of healing. Mary Alice wants each grieving reader to take heart and gain courage. The future can be a place of healing, peace, and even joy. So, Let There Be Hope!
